The sequel of 2002 film Kaante is part of Sanjay Gupta’s future plans, but he says the movie will not happen without actor Sanjay Dutt, who is currently behind bars stated media.
“Of course Kaante 2 will happen, but not without Sanjay Dutt,” Gupta tweeted on Wednesday.
The film had a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar and Lucky Ali.
Talks of the Kaante sequel have been going on, but clearly, Gupta wants to wait for his friend Sanjay Dutt, who is in jail for illegal possession of arms during the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts and riots.
Kaante explored the darker areas of society with a group of robbers trying to pull off a big heist, which can change their future for good. The perfect plan unravels when an undercover policeman finds a place in their group.
The original movie, which was about a group of Indians who decide to loot a back in the United States borrowed several plot elements from different Hollywood films like The Usual Suspects and Reservoir Dogs.
Quentin Tarantino, the director of Reservoir Dogs even called it as one of his favorite rip-offs of his many films reported firstpost.com. “I think it was fabulous. Of the many rip-offs (of Reservoir Dogs), I loved Hong Kong’s Too Many Ways To Be No.1 and this one, Kaante. The best part is, you have Indian guys coming to the US and looting a US bank. How cool is that! I was truly honoured,” stated Tarantino.
For now, Gupta’s film Jazbaa is running high on anticipation levels as it marks the comeback of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
